In 1975, Setsunan
University was founded with the ambition of creating a
university that has never been seen before. Since then,
Setsunan has shown drastic growth and development, now
providing a wide variety of academic fields from humanities
to sciences, including eleven departments in five faculties,
and five areas of graduate-level studies. Taking full
advantage of the characteristics of a university, we structure
our curriculum to be interdisciplinary with emphasis on
the development of practical skills. We also encourage
our students to take national examinations and other tests
of such kind to qualify for various professions so that
their potential is embodied for people to see, and in
turn gives them a competitive edge. We assure that, no
matter what area of study they major in, our students
will have the full support from the entire university
staff.
Seminars that focus on interpersonal communication are
the very essense of the education Setsunan University
offers. An individual experiences drastic growth when
he/she takes action with enthusiasm, and such a chance
is often found in interaction with others. Incorporating
this philosophy into our curriculum, we consistently offer
small-group classes from the freshman year basic seminar
courses, the second and third year seminar courses, to
the senior year graduating studies. We are sure that this
learning environment helps the students tap into their
potential to flourish.
Setsunan University hopes to foster highly skilled professionals
with the ideal balance of mind, spirit and body, which
is our educational principle, and scientists who are in
demand from now on. With that in mind, we have strived
to improve our educational capability, and will continue
to do so in the future, while keeping the students' viewpoint
in the center of our development. We would like to welcome
especially those students who believe in their inner potential
and wish to further develop many aspects of themselves.
