　We are conducting basic research on biological sciences. Two laboratories (Biochemistry and Microbiology) work together using the respective skillful techniques in the field of spore-forming bacteria.

　Biochemistry

We are interested in the application of enzymes and enzyme inhibitors for clinical use and work on some specific enzymes, especially the proteases, present in some oppotunistic pathogens and also in spore-forming bacteria such as Bacillus subtils.

　Microbiology

We are interested in the spore-forming bacteria and work on the structure, sporulation, and germination of the endospore using Bacillus subtils as a model bacteria.
