Masato Otsuka
Professor / Ph.D. (Pharmaceutical Sciences)
Nice to meet you, I'm Masato Otsuka. Welcome to a world that begins with my "Why?".
Thank you for visiting this page! Here, I'd like to share a little about my journey of "learning" and "exploration," which is the source of my daily life and interests. My inexhaustible curiosity always drives me. It's not only found in books but also in the earth, wind, history, culture, and conversations with people. Knowledge, for me, is a spice that enriches my life and adds color to it. My daily life is made up of moments of "stillness" and "motion.""Stillness" to Deepen My Inner World
-
The time I spend calming my mind and deeply engaging with things forms the foundation of my exploration.
- Pursuit of Knowledge (Reading & Art Appreciation): I love to immerse myself in books of all genres, especially delving deep into the worlds of history and philosophy. At art museums, I am drawn to the spirituality of Japanese traditional culture and Buddhist art. By contemplating the creators' thoughts and the times behind the works, I feel my perspective broadening.
- Dialogue with Nature (Gardening & Coffee): In my garden, I cultivate over 60 varieties of hydrangeas and roses, and I am constantly moved by the vitality of plants. Also, roasting my own coffee beans and carefully brewing a cup is a precious ritual that clears my mind.
- Dialogue with the Heart (Visiting Shrines & Temples, Meditation): Visiting serene shrines and temples makes me feel as if my soul is cleansed. Along with my daily meditation, it is an indispensable time for self-reflection.
"Motion" to Connect with the World
-
The time I spend opening my senses and seeking new discoveries outdoors is also a treasure for me.
- Wind and Adventure (Motorcycling): I hop on my beloved Eliminator 400SE and ride into the wind on weekends. The exhilaration and sense of adventure from riding unknown roads are the best stress relievers. Encounters with various landscapes and people enrich my heart.
- Capturing Moments (Photography): With my camera in hand, I capture beautiful moments of landscapes and nature that captivate me. The world seen through the viewfinder teaches me the hidden beauty in everyday life.
- Interacting with People: Conversations with people of various generations and backgrounds are truly "moving libraries." Every time I encounter different sensibilities, I feel my world expanding.
Gazing Towards the Future
-
In recent years, I have also developed a strong interest in the evolution of technology, including AI. How can we coexist with technology while nurturing our humanity in this new era? This is also a major theme of my exploration. For me, "learning" is an endless journey itself. I hope that through this self-introduction, I have been able to share a glimpse of my journey's scenery. Thank you for reading to the end!
